Job summary

The Tennessee Department of Health is seeking an attorney to serve as a Contractor Associate General Counsel to assist the Department's effort to strengthen Tennessee's rural healthcare infrastructure by supporting the effective regulation of healthcare professionals serving residents throughout the state's 89 rural counties. This position reports to a Deputy General Counsel.

Qualifications

Must have litigation experience including trials.
Ability to manage a large volume of work and prioritize.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Represent the department in administrative law cases before health-related boards.
Review complaints and investigations involving healthcare licensees practicing in Tennessee.
Provide legal support for department investigators and licensing board consultants.
Handle all aspects of litigation for cases requiring formal discipline, including discovery, motion practice, and trials.
Ability to manage a robust case load at various phases of litigation.
Assist with legislative projects as assigned, including bill analysis.
