Job summary

Tennessee Department of Health is seeking an attorney to serve as Contractor Associate General Counsel to support rural healthcare regulation and disciplinary actions in Tennessee’s 89 rural counties. The role involves working with investigators, negotiating resolutions, and trying cases before licensing boards.

In-office presence is required weekly. This is a contract position, not eligible for state employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Litigation experience including trials.
• Ability to manage and prioritize a large volume of work.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate in a team.

Responsibilities

• Represent the department in administrative law cases before health-related boards.
• Review complaints and investigations involving healthcare licensees in rural counties.
• Provide legal support for investigators and licensing board consultants.
• Handle all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motions, and trials.
• Manage a robust caseload across various phases of litigation.
• Assist with legislative projects, including bill analysis.
