Job summary

Ancestry is seeking a project-based Archival Digitization Specialist to work on a contract basis in Williamsburg, VA. You will capture digital images of documents, audit scans, and maintain data records, working independently on focused tasks. This is a contract position reporting to the Domestic Remote Senior Imaging Manager.

Ideal candidates have experience with digitization, archival materials, and a detail-oriented approach to ensure high-quality outputs within a defined timeline.

Qualifications

• Manages several projects and priorities effectively.
• Anticipates problems and finds creative solutions.
• Experience with scanning and editing equipment, procedures and materials.
• Background in Photography, Library and Archives, or History preferred.

Responsibilities

• Capture digital images of documents as specified.
• Perform quality audits on scanned rolls before transmission.
• Enter data into spreadsheets and report progress.
• Manage delivery/transmission of images to the corporate office.
• Coordinate machine maintenance with third-party providers.
• Perform basic image enhancement and file organization tasks.
• Maintain professional relationships to protect images and mission.
• Handle miscellaneous project-related tasks.
