Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Contract Analyst within the Procurement Center of Excellence to manage contract lifecycle operations, renewals, and CLM administration. The role involves drafting and negotiating contracts, reporting, and collaboration with vendors and Legal to safeguard the company’s interests.

This position favors a JD or legal background, requires strong attention to detail, and demands capability to handle moderate complexity contracting tasks while maintaining schedules

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum of four (4) years of related contract and/or supply chain experience.
• JD or Legal background is preferred or beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist in procurement planning by monitoring upcoming contract expirations and coordinating with stakeholders.
• Draft, review and negotiate low to moderately complex contracts and amendments using templates.
• Serve as primary administrator for the CLM system and ensure data integrity.
• Monitor contract workflows to ensure timely approvals across departments.
• Regularly audit the CLM database and ensure data accuracy across systems.
• Own and update procurement dashboards to provide real-time visibility into contract status, spend and expiration.
• Generate periodic reports on KPIs such as contract cycle time and renewal success rates.
• Maintain the library of procurement templates ensuring alignment with legal requirements.
• Lead negotiation processes through strategy development and issue escalation.
