Job summary

American Electric Power Co. is seeking a Contract Consultant in Columbus, OH to negotiate, draft, and administer supplier contracts of moderate complexity in collaboration with Legal and internal stakeholders.

You will report on contract health to leadership, develop contracting strategies, and ensure compliance with statutes, regulations, and company policies while protecting the company's interests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field and 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Or an Associate's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Or a High School Diploma with 8+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate contract terms and conditions with internal stakeholders.
• Analyze commercial sections of proposals and scopes of work.
• Interface with legal, risk management, project controls, engineering and suppliers.
• Prepare, maintain and communicate records and reports for contracting.
• Provide analytical contract administration support for operations and senior management.
• Protect company interests by enforcing warranties and mitigating risk.
• Execute portfolio assignments and perform contract risk assessments.
• Develop supplier performance criteria and service levels.
• Oversee amendments to existing agreements using various models.
• Lead negotiation strategy and issue escalation for moderate to complex contracts.
• Analyze vendor claims and negotiate settlements; address changes-in-law.
• Coordinate and track documents for force majeure events.
