Nelson Connects is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant for a contract role in Sacramento, CA. You will support day-to-day accounting, manage contract-related financial activities, and ensure grants and contracts meet regulatory requirements.

This role involves collaboration with partners and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate records. You must have a degree in accounting or related field and GAAP/GAAS knowledge, with experience in government funding, general ledger

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field with relevant experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and GAAS.
• Experience with automated general ledger systems; AccuFund preferred.
• Knowledge of grant and contract accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.
• Proficiency in MS Office 365, including Excel.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and deadline management.
• Clear communication and ability to explain accounting concepts to varied audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively; maintain confidentiality.
• Background screening with fingerprinting.

Responsabilités

• Support day-to-day accounting activities and backlog cleanup.
• Perform accounting functions for programs and contracts under Controller guidance.
• Review and process partner budgets, monthly financial reports, and funding requests.
• Prepare monthly expenditure reports and funding requests for government agencies and others.
• Review financial documents for accuracy and compliance with federal, state, grant, and contract requirements.
• Collaborate with funding partners and internal teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Support contract setup, maintenance, and closeout.
• Assist with proposals, funding requests, and award documentation.
• Maintain accounting system records and support internal financial reviews.
• Provide accounting guidance and support to external partners as needed.
