Job summary

MATTR is seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist to drive operational excellence at our Ohio facility. This hands-on role partners with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance and supply chain to identify, prioritize and execute improvements that boost safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

You will lead Lean Six Sigma projects, run Kaizen events, analyze data with Excel and Power BI, and sustain standard work, 5S and value stream mapping.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Technology, Business, or related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, engineering, or continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated success leading Lean or Six Sigma projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing projects from identification through successful implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Execute Kaizen events, waste elimination activities, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, capacity, safety, and cost performance.
  • Implement sustainable solutions and verify achievement of targeted results.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate outcomes to site leadership.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis using DMAIC, A3, 5 Why, Fishbone, and Pareto tools.
  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvements.
  • Partner with operations teams to reduce scrap, downtime, and variation.
  • Support data-driven decision-making to improve performance.
  • Sustain Lean practices including 5S, Visual Management, Standard Work, VSM, TPM, Daily Management.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and best practices.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure improvements are sustainable.
  • Train employees and leaders on Lean principles and tools.
  • Facilitate workshops and improvement events.
  • Encourage engagement and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Track project savings and performance metrics; maintain project pipeline.
  • Present recommendations and results to site leadership.

Summary

The Continuous Improvement Specialist is a hands-on change agent responsible for driving operational excellence through the application of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies. This role partners with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, and supply chain teams to identify, prioritize, and execute initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance. Success in this role is measured through the implementation of sustainable improvements that enhance operational performance and support a culture of continuous improvement throughout the facility.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
