Job summary

DSG-Canusa in Ohio is seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist to drive operational excellence through Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methods. You will partner with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, and supply chain to identify opportunities and deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.

You will lead Kaizen events, apply DMAIC with data analysis, and mentor teams to sustain 5S, Visual Management, and standard work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, engineering, or continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated success leading Lean or Six Sigma projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing projects from identification through successful implementation.

Summary

The Continuous Improvement Specialist is a hands‑on change agent responsible for driving operational excellence through the application of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies. This role partners with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, and supply chain teams to identify, prioritize, and execute initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost performance. Success in this role is measured through the implementation of sustainable improvements that enhance operational performance and support a culture of continuous improvement throughout the facility.


Responsibilities


  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Execute Kaizen events, waste elimination activities, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, capacity, safety, and cost performance.

  • Implement sustainable solutions and verify achievement of targeted results.

  • Monitor project progress and communicate outcomes to site leadership.

  • Facilitate root cause analysis using structured problem‑solving tools such as DMAIC, A3 Problem Solving, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, and Pareto Analysis.

  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Partner with operations teams to reduce scrap, downtime, and process variation.

  • Support data‑driven decision‑making that improves operational performance

  • Support and sustain Lean Manufacturing practices including 5S, Visual Management, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, TPM, and Daily Management Systems.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and best practices.

  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance and sustainability of improvements.

  • Train employees and leaders on Lean principles and continuous improvement tools.

  • Facilitate workshops and improvement events.

  • Encourage employee engagement and support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

  • Track and report project savings and operational performance metrics.

  • Maintain the continuous improvement project pipeline and status reporting.

  • Present recommendations, updates, and results to site leadership.


Qualifications

Education & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Technology, Business, or a related field.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, engineering, or continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated success leading Lean or Six Sigma projects within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience managing projects from identification through successful implementation.


Preferred Certifications


  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

  • TPM Certification

  • Kaizen Certification

  • Lean Practitioner Certification


Required Certification


  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and structured problem‑solving techniques.

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.

  • Ability to influence and drive change without direct authority.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite.
