RTX in Tucson, AZ is seeking a detail-oriented Continuous Improvement Quality Engineer to join our Operations Quality Assurance team. This onsite role interfaces with factory teams to identify and resolve quality issues, drive lean initiatives, and maintain regulatory compliance.

You will lead RCCA investigations, develop improvement plans, document ROI, and mentor other QEs in lean methods, supporting a culture of continuous improvement across RTX's manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM; 5+ years of related Quality/Operations/Engineering experience.
• Experience analyzing data and developing actionable metrics to guide improvements.
• Experience with engineering principles and design analysis techniques.
• Experience supporting design and/or manufacturing processes.
• Ability to obtain interim U.S.-based clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Job Summary

We are excited to welcome a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Continuous Improvement Quality Engineer (QE) to our Operations Quality Assurance team in Tucson, Arizona. In this role, you will be onsite to interface with other Operations QEs and the factory teams supporting production. You'll collaborate with various teams to identify and resolve quality issues, drive improvements, and maintain compliance with industry regulations. As an Operations Quality Engineer at RTX, you will play a key role in upholding our reputation for excellent product performance and reliability.

What You Will Do

• Use structured problem-solving methodologies, data analysis, and Lean/Six Sigma tools to identify opportunities, optimize workflows, and strengthen quality and efficiency
• Partner closely with cross-functional factory teams to implement solutions, monitor results, and promote a culture of continuous improvement
• Ensure improvements align with business objectives, customer requirements, and compliance standards while fostering engagement and collaboration at all levels of the organization
• Develop improvement project plans and gain approval, sponsorship, and stakeholders within Operations Quality and factory leadership teams
• Document return on investments (ROI), all project details upon conclusion, and share out the lessons learned with other factories
• Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, and tracking issues to closure
• Regularly interface with factory support, factory management, hourly employees, internal stakeholders, internal customers, and external customers through face to face and teleconferencing interactions in a fast-paced environment with plenty of challenging opportunities
• Coach Operations QEs through their continuous improvement projects by providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) input on lean / six sigma and problem-solving tools and methods
• Strong interpersonal skills with experience in negotiating, having difficult conversations, and ability to work well with factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a bachelor's in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and five (5) years of experience in related Quality, Operations, Engineering
• Previous experience in the analysis of data and development of actionable metrics for identifying areas for improvement and tracking the effectiveness of implemented changes.
• Experience with engineering principles and design analysis techniques
• Experience in supporting design and/or manufacturing process
• Experience with project management, problem solving methods
• The ability to obtain an INTERIM U.S. based clearance prior to start date. (U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance)
• The ability to obtain and maintain an ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance prior to the start date

Qualifications We Prefer

• Existing DoD Secret Clearance
• Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System
• Experience in Product/Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Statistical Analysis
• Motivated and self-starting team player who achieves results and continuously strives for

• Master's degree in engineering, Science, Mathematics, or Business

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
