Job summary

Casey’s in Ankeny, IA, offers a Continuous Improvement Internship for Summer 2027 at our Store Support Center. You’ll work with teams across stores and the Support Center to simplify operations using Lean and Six Sigma, and learn the DMAIC problem-solving process.

This internship provides hands-on project experience, exposure to executive leaders, networking events, and potential part-time opportunities during the school year, with a path to full-time after graduation.

Qualifications

• Current junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Management, or related field.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business partners, team members, stores and Store Support Center to simplify operations using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
• Learn and apply the DMAIC problem solving methodology and plan Rapid Process Improvement (RPI) events.
• Plan store gemba’s and contribute to data analysis and smarter decision making across CI initiatives.
• Tell the story from problem identification through implementation.

As a Continuous Improvement (CI) Intern, you will partner closely with business partners, team members, stores and Store Support Center to simplify operations. This will be done through implementation of process improvement methodologies such as Lean principles and Six Sigma. This internship will provide you with the opportunity to learn and apply the DMAIC problem solving methodology, prepare for and conduct Rapid Process Improvement (RPI) events, and plan store gemba’s. You will have the opportunity to tell the story from problem identification through implementation.

In addition, you will be involved in learning and understanding how our time and motion developed labor standards work as inputs to our labor model and store schedules. As part of our evolving strategy, we are also exploring ways to leverage artificial intelligence to enhance data analysis, identify improvement opportunities, and support smarter decision-making across CI initiatives.

Compensation: This internship offers a starting pay range of $20.00 - $23.00 per hour, depending on academic year, qualifications, experience, and skills relevant to the role.
