Job summary

Irving Tissue in Macon, GA is seeking a driven student or recent graduate for a data-oriented role focused on lean improvements and reporting. You will perform data mining, support six sigma exercises, and help prepare information for cross-functional teams.

The position emphasizes hands-on learning, collaboration with multiple departments, and opportunities to participate in company functions and networking events within the J.D. Irving network.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a field of engineering
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas

Responsibilities

  • Perform data mining, six sigma exercises, and structured problem solving.
  • Complete projects in various departments that may include with use of lean tool such as Standard Work, 5s, Kanban, Changeover reduction, Error Proofing and Visual Management.
  • Monitor work on shop floor or office for evidence of waste and non-value-added activity that impedes the flow of material or information. Conduct audits and report findings.
  • Assist in preparing information and research materials; create and maintain PowerPoint presentations
  • Take notes and memos during improvement workshops; type documents, drafts, and reports; sort and manage files
  • Manage databases and input information, data, and records
  • Attend company functions and networking event
