Job summary

McKinley Paper and Packaging Company in Combined Locks, Wisconsin, seeks a Continuous Improvement Engineer (CIE) to analyze and optimize pulp and paper manufacturing processes, driving efficiency and reducing waste. Qualifications

Job description

Continuous Improvement Engineer (CIE) primary duties and responsibilities include:

Analyzing and optimizing pulp and paper manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and lower cost. Identify bottlenecks, conduct root cause analysis and lead cross-functional teams to implement improvements.

Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and boosting quality in paper machine operations
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining continuous improvement projects in area
  • Delivering continuous improvement training, coaching, and mentoring to facilitate knowledge sharing, growth, and development across all McKinley Paper & Packaging locations
  • Identifying and resolving equipment or process issues, including machinery and chemical processes
  • Monitoring production data to ensure product meets specifications
  • Assisting with daily production problem troubleshooting from a process, technical, and systems standpoint
  • Interfacing with engineering, technical, and process control to design and recommend new equipment and processes
  • Analyzing key performance metrics/KPI’s for trends, identify process improvement opportunities and develop visual communication systems, reports, and dashboards to capture and communicate the impact of the continuous improvement accomplishments
  • Setting, adjusting, and maintaining production standards and process control specifications and instructions
  • Collecting and analyzing data with sound statistical methods to assist in process improvement and trial evaluation
  • Responding to departmental requests for changes in existing systems/equipment to modify/enhance the system/equipment to obtain desired results in a safe and cost-effective manner
  • Developing internal/external customer/supplier relationships with operating area
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality in daily activities and long-term projects.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
Skills & Experience:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • ParcView/Pi/Panther experience is a plus
Education:

Paper Science or Chemical Engineering degree preferred
