Job summary

Jobtailor in Plano, Texas seeks an experienced instructor for Continuing Education non-credit courses. You will design and deliver instruction aligned with the syllabus and schedule, across multiple modalities including online and in-person formats.

You will assess students, set goals, and maintain up-to-date course materials while coordinating with the program director and staff to ensure high-quality learning experiences.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Proven teaching experience in Continuing Education non-credit courses.
• Ability to implement course syllabi and assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provide educational instruction to Continuing Education non-credit students.
• Teach courses in accordance with syllabus, schedule, and college mission.
• Deliver instruction through day, evening, distance education, weekend, online, and other modalities.
• Conduct student assessments and set educational/vocational goals.
• Complete daily attendance rosters and document student absences.
• Develop and submit learning documentation and course syllabi to the program director.
• Maintain current knowledge of textbooks, materials, teaching aids and instructional technology.
• Prepare and submit student-related and staff-related forms and documentation.
• Notify the program director of student support-service needs and document referrals.
• Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, volunteers, and the college.
• Keep the program director informed of instructional activities and potential problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Provide educational instruction to students in Continuing Education non-credit courses in assigned subject/topic
• Teach courses in accordance with the course syllabus, semester schedule, and college mission
• Deliver instruction through day, evening, distance education, weekend, online, and other instructional modalities
• Conduct student assessments/testing and educational/vocational goal setting
• Complete daily class attendance rosters and document student absences
• Develop and submit learning documentation and course syllabi to the program director
• Maintain current knowledge of textbooks, classroom materials, teaching aids, teaching techniques, course content, methodology, and instructional technology
• Prepare and submit student-related forms, evaluations, attendance rosters, tracking forms, information forms, and progress assessments
• Complete and submit staff-related forms, teaching contracts, professional development forms, and materials/supplies tracking forms
• Notify the program director of student support-service needs and document referrals
• Maintain student, staff, volunteer, and College confidentiality
• Keep the program director informed of instructional activities, results, and identified or potential problems
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma is required
• Proven work experience in the relevant industry
• Proven training and/or teaching experience
• Strong interpersonal skills and aptitude to work with people at all levels of the College and in the classroom
• Ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities
• Candidates are subject to a criminal background check because the position is Security Sensitive
• Ability to adhere to College mission, procedures, regulations, policies, procedures, and core values
• Ability to complete required student-, staff-, attendance-, evaluation-, assessment-, syllabus-, and documentation-related forms within directed timelines
