Department: The Center for Mathematics and Science Education, a center within the University of Mississippi School of Education, works to improve mathematics and science education in Mississippi by fostering interaction between academic and K-12 communities, supporting the implementation of research-based methods in the classroom, and promoting interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Through collaborative efforts the CMSE provides professional development for K-12 math & science teachers and provides opportunities for K-12 students to engage in the STEM fields. The CMSE fosters a continuous learning community within the department by working across the Professional Learning and K-12 STEM Experiences Divisions. We engage both undergraduate and graduate students in the work of the CMSE.
The Continuing Education Coordinator primarily works within the Professional Learning Division of the Center for Mathematics & Science Education. This person is responsible for coordinating the logistics and maintaining detailed records related to professional development events offered to K-12 math and science teachers and administrators. The incumbent processes registrations and payments, gathers and prepares materials, and tracks participant data for all professional development programs. This person also assists with the administrative functions of the office, as well as collaborating with other staff on advertising efforts via website and social media.
