Job summary

AoPS Academy Northbrook is seeking a part-time instructor to teach Geometry through Calculus and contest mathematics in afterschool and summer programs. You will use a curated curriculum with an emphasis on student-led learning, guiding small groups of up to 16 students in engaging math activities.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree (STEM or education preferred), with strong math knowledge and prior teaching or tutoring experience. A formal teaching credential is not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related or educational field is strongly preferred.
• Strong content knowledge in math.
• Classroom teaching experience at the K-12 level is preferred.
• Experience teaching or tutoring students.
• Previous experience with math contests/competitions is strongly preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Teach Engaging Curriculum using AoPS materials for advanced students.
• Engage Students by involving them in class and student-led learning.
• Classroom Management of up to 16 students.
• Grade and provide feedback on tests and assignments.
• Build relationships with students and families.
• Inspire learning and critical thinking in math.
