Job summary

Clean Harbors in Houston, TX is seeking a Container Mechanic to inspect, repair, and fabricate on container assets at company and customer sites. This role involves welding, cutting, grinding and surface preparation, with safety as a top priority.

You will log time and materials in an electronic repair order system, receive welding equipment from the company, and must have a valid driver's license to operate service trucks. Training and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Welding (MIG & Stick) and mechanical experience in a fabrication/repair shop environment.
• Experience performing flat welding with steel is preferred.
• Welding certification is considered an asset.
• Ability and willingness to wear a respirator; must be clean shaven.
• Valid driver's license and clean 3-year driving record are required.

Responsibilities

• Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices and policies.
• Perform compliance and safety inspections; correct equipment deficiencies and perform preventative maintenance.
• Perform welding, cutting, grinding, mechanical repair and other metal working techniques.
• Maintain shop housekeeping and welding systems, tools and equipment.
• Prepare surfaces before painting and apply coatings using HVLP, airless, or manual tools.
• Fabricate, cut, and weld on roll-off containers.
• Log time and materials into the electronic repair order system.
• Keep company truck clean, tidy and hazard-free.
• Perform other welding duties as assigned.
