Job summary

Cogent People Inc. seeks a Container Infrastructure Engineer to support a mission-critical government healthcare system. You will drive OpenShift containerization, automate CI/CD, and implement DevSecOps practices.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years on OpenShift, 5+ years AWS, and strong scripting skills. Hybrid/remote in Columbia, MD with in-office MON & WED collaboration. Public Trust clearance preferred.

Location: Columbia, MD (Hybrid/Remote - MON & WED in the office)

Job Overview:

Cogent People Inc. is seeking a Container Infrastructure Engineer to support a mission-critical large-scale system serving the Federal Government in the healthcare domain. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Containerization technologies (OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD, and scripting languages (Shell, Python, Java).

Responsibilities:

• Enhance the feature set of existing OpenShift platform across multiple environments.
• Serve as OpenShift SME (Subject-Matter Expert).
• Install, maintain, and operationalize OpenShift Operators.
• Assist with DevSecOps automation.
• Support development teams with containerization, infrastructure, and deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of direct experience with RedHat OpenShift containerization platform.
• 5+ years of experience with AWS.
• Proven experience with scripting (bash, PowerShell, Python, Java).
• Experience with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins), observability tools.
• Understanding of event platforms such as Kafka.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality and accurate work.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of the team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in federal government programs, or regulated environments (CMS experience is preferred).
• Relevant certifications (AWS, OpenShift) are a plus.
