Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: A Driver- CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. In addition, a Driver - CDL (B) must ensure that their vehicle complies with the company's safety standards before operating, adhere to all company, state, and federal regulations while on duty, and complete daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to address any vehicle defects promptly.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle, including checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls. Report safety issues as per company policy.
  2. Safely operate the truck along designated routes and to disposal sites, following route sheets and maps, and service each customer as assigned.
  3. Operate controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of waste at designated facilities following safety policies.
  4. Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and colleagues to ensure timely and professional service.
  5. Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers according to departmental procedures.
  6. Monitor waste quality and manage waste spills safely and effectively.
  7. Maintain the vehicle in operational condition, cleaning waste from the packer blade and truck body as needed.
  8. Complete route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports accurately.
  9. Meet productivity standards to ensure efficient service delivery.
  10. Follow all safety policies and participate actively in the company's ReSOP program.
  11. Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
  12. Provide excellent customer service, acting professionally and courteously at all times.
  13. Manage time effectively to complete responsibilities safely and efficiently.
  14. Adhere to company policies, promote safety standards, and avoid unnecessary risks.
  15. Maintain pride in work and strive to meet all goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of prior experience driving commercial trucks preferred.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License with air brakes endorsement.
