Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: A Driver - CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customers. Additionally, a Driver - CDL (B) must ensure their vehicle complies with the company's safety standards before operating it, adhere to all company, state, and federal regulations during operation, and complete daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to facilitate timely repairs.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle, including checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls, reporting any issues.
2. Safely operate the truck along the designated route and to the disposal site, following route sheets, maps, and instructions from dispatchers or supervisors.
3. Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift, load, operate the compactor, and dispose of waste at the designated facility.
4. Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure timely and professional service.
5. Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures.
6. Monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
7. Clean around waste spills, following safety standards.
8. Maintain vehicle readiness by monitoring its condition, cleaning waste from the packer blade and truck body as needed.
9. Complete route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and reports as required.
10. Adhere to productivity standards to ensure efficient service.
11. Follow all safety policies and participate in the company's ReSOP program.
12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
13. Provide excellent customer service, acting professionally and courteously.
14. Manage time effectively to complete responsibilities safely and efficiently.
15. Follow company policies, promote safety standards, and avoid unnecessary risks.
16. Maintain pride in work and strive to meet all goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two years of prior experience driving commercial trucks preferred.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License with air brakes endorsement.
