Job summary

Priority Waste Resources is seeking a Container Delivery Driver to pick up and deliver containers to customer accounts in the Hamtramck area. You will operate a heavy-duty truck, perform inspections, and maintain safety and professionalism on every route.

We value teamwork, reliability, and the ability to communicate clearly with customers and dispatch. This role requires long shifts, DOT-compliance, and a valid Chauffeur's License in Michigan.

Qualifications

• Valid Chauffeur's License required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Able to work 10-12 hour shifts, including some Saturdays.
• Must pass criminal background check, DOT drug screen, and medical.
• Clean driving record with no avoidable accidents in the past five years.
• Able to operate a tablet to receive work orders.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the truck.
• Operate a manual transmission truck in compliance with OSHA and DOT rules.
• Mount and dismount heavy-duty truck multiple times daily.
• Load/unload containers using a Moffett forklift when required.
• Complete residential routes daily, leaving each location debris-free.
• Communicate with customers and dispatch about requests and issues.
• Report any accidents, injuries, or safety hazards to supervisor promptly.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and a professional appearance.

Job Purpose

In your role as a Container Delivery Driver you will be picking up and delivering varying sizes of containers to different customers accounts.

Duties

• Performs pre and post trip inspections of truck
• Operates manual transmission truck in accordance with OSHA and DOT requirements as well as all local, municipal, state, and federal laws
• Mounts and dismounts a heavy-duty truck many times each day
• Operate a Moffett (forklift truck) to load and unload containers
• Completes assigned residential route daily, leaving the customer’s location free of debris
• Professionally communicates with customers as needed
• Notifies Route Manager/Dispatch of any accidents, injuries, property damage, or any other incidents
• Notifies Route Manager/Dispatch of any service interruptions such as closed lots, blocked containers, safety hazards etc
• Identifies and reports all containers in need of repair/replacement
• Attends training programs, briefings, and meetings as required
• Communicates customer requests to Route Manager/Dispatch
• Immediately communicates mechanical problems to Mechanic and Supervisor
• Maintains cleanliness of vehicle
• Maintains professional appearance

Qualifications

• MUST possess a valid Chauffer''s License

• MUST have safe driving record, including no avoidable accidents in the past five years

• MUST be able to sit, kneel, crouch, stoop, crawl, balance, hear, talk and smell
• MUST be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• May be required to work in emergency situations
