Job summary

State of South Dakota | Office of Attorney General invites a Summer Intern – ATG to support consumer protection work in Pierre. The intern will handle day-to-day office duties, answer toll-free inquiries, and assist with research on vehicle lemon law, travel statutes, cyber security, and ID theft.

There may be special projects with investigators and public outreach at state fairs. The internship requires enrollment as a part-time or full-time student, with preference for juniors/seniors and

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply. By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
• Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Assist day-to-day duties of the office and answer toll-free line to help consumers with their issues.
• Work on consumer protection topics and special projects with investigators, organizing case files and prepping cases.
• Represent the Consumer Protection booth at state fairs and interact with the public.
