Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States seeks an experienced attorney to lead litigation efforts across all phases, including drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs, and managing discovery. The role also involves taking and defending depositions, coordinating with experts, and advancing class certification work.

The ideal candidate will have a JD from an accredited school, a DC license (or eligibility for waiver), and at least 7 years of legal experience with a focus on litigation.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Washington, D.C. or eligible for DC waivers.
• 7+ years of relevant legal experience; at least 5 in litigation.
• Class action experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of consumer protection laws preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in building a new litigation practice group.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs and manage discovery.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Play a significant role in all stages of litigation, including but not limited to: drafting pleadings, drafting motions and briefs, assisting with all phases of discovery including written discovery, document review/management, and taking and defending depositions, playing a critical role in class certification discovery and briefing, working closely with experts, conducting trials and/or overseeing class settlement processes and procedures.
• Participate in case strategy discussions and use creative approaches to solve novel issues of law.
• Identify new areas for potential litigation and lead investigations into potential cases.
• Work collaboratively with other attorneys and support staff.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Washington, D.C. or ability to waive into D.C. promptly.
• 7+ years of relevant legal experience; at least 5 of which are litigation focused.
• At least some experience with class action litigation is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of consumer protection laws is preferred but not required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
