Job description

The Consumer Loan Officer proactively engages existing and potential members to identify member needs and promote appropriate loan and deposit products. This role focuses on building relationships through digital channels, ensuring an exceptional member experience, and supporting product growth goals across lending, underwriting, and member‑experience teams. The position will assist in fulfilling the mission of the credit union and maintain loyalty with both internal and external members and vendors. Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional service to both internal and external members and demonstrate a strong commitment to the organization’s Do More Good culture by fostering a positive work environment and promoting our core values in all interactions.
  • Consistently identify the needs of members and recommend appropriate credit union solutions to build member loyalty and meet or exceed organizational goals.
  • Process consumer loan applications and make outbound calls to identify opportunities to assist the financial needs of members.
  • Assist members with account needs, answer questions about products and services, and resolve problems.
  • Identify and suggest process improvements and innovative solutions to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Own internal and external member problems, issues, and complaints and ensure proper follow‑up or escalation to achieve resolution.
Performance Measurements
  1. Continuously meet and/or exceed established goals and objectives identified in the annual performance goal document for this position. Support credit union initiatives to achieve desired balanced scorecard results.
  2. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the credit union’s products, services, and compliance items (BSA/AML/HR and OFAC) through self‑study and available training and development opportunities. Must receive a passing score on all required assessments.
  3. Maintain an appropriate level of attendance and timeliness to ensure the highest level of service to both internal and external members. When possible, absences should be scheduled in advance.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Three to five years of related experience in lending.
  • Education: A high school education or GED.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for first‑level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
