Job summary

San Antonio Zoo is seeking a Consumer Events Specialist to design and execute engaging events that enhance guest experiences and support wildlife conservation. You will coordinate with vendors and internal teams to bring themed environments and cohesive guest touchpoints to life.

The role requires strong communication, planning, and problem-solving, with flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and some after-hours.

Qualifications

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Bilingual is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and ability to learn other software platforms.
• Professional degree preferred; experience may be substituted.
• Experience organizing, planning, and executing events (corporate meetings, trainings, luncheons, weddings, etc.).
• Ability to deliver a high level of customer service.
• Pre-employment Sex Offender & National Background Check and Drug Screen.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Candidate must be available days, nights, weekends, and occasional after-hour assignments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in orchestrating the execution of various events, including Monarch Fest and Jungle Boogie Nights.
• Coordinate production timelines with staff from multiple departments to review tasks.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to produce show elements.
• Research networks of vendors for consumer events.
• Monitor daily setup for events including signage, activities, and entertainment.
• Ensure events run smoothly and break down elements after completion.
• Implement safety practices for each event.
• Assist in event planning and task management using project boards.
• Contribute to event effectiveness with ideas and guest satisfaction.
• Generate excitement for events and highlight LEAP and sustainability.
• Assist with vendor invoices and contracts for events.
• Assist with post-event recaps including attendance data.
