Job summary

Nashville Zoo is seeking a Special Event Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and execute the public events calendar. You will work with multiple departments and external partners to drive guest value and revenue for the Zoo.

The role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, comfort with a non-standard schedule including nights and weekends, and the ability to manage budgets and vendor relationships. Join a collaborative team dedicated to conservation and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years in event production or planning.
• Experience in nonprofit environment preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute outreach, enrichment and public events.
• Manage event budgets, expenses and invoicing within approved guidelines.
• Liaise with vendors, partners, volunteers, and other departments to ensure seamless events.
• Coordinate coverage with Volunteer Department for event programs.
• Develop sponsorship opportunities and manage sponsor recognition during events.
• Serve as primary point of contact for events and oversee run-of-show.
• Prepare event layouts, equipment needs and logistics with Operations staff.
