Job summary

AdventHealth in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Part-time Night-shift Customer Service/Revenue Cycle Associate. The role performs Medicare compliance reviews, prepares patient financial responsibility estimates, and collects payments or arranges plans.

It also handles pre-authorizations, insurance verification, and patient registration to ensure accurate records. The ideal candidate has 1+ year in customer service within healthcare, strong insurance knowledge, and bilingual English/Spanish abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor?s level? No. Associate degree preferred or higher is acceptable.
• Experience in a customer service role in healthcare is preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits, capitals and patient financial responsibility required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews Medicare compliance and issues ABNs as needed.
• Creates estimates for patient financial responsibility; collects payments or arranges payment plans.
• Coordinates with utilization management for pre-authorizations; ensures patients have necessary information.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits; obtains pre-authorizations within established timeframes.
• Registers patients for all services; ensures accuracy and avoids duplicate medical records.

Job Description

Hours: Monday - Thursday 3pm - 9pm Performs Medicare compliance reviews and issues Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as needed. Creates accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collects payments or establishes payment plans. Coordinates with utilization management staff for pre-authorization issues and ensures patients have necessary logistical information. Contacts insurance companies to verify eligibility and benefits, and obtains pre-authorizations within established timeframes. Registers patients for all services, ensuring accuracy and minimizing duplication of medical records.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrates mature judgment in dealing with patients, physicians, and insurance representatives.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft programs and familiarity with database programs.
• Ability to operate or utilize general office equipment and technology, such as a computer, fax machine, printer, and scanner, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to effectively learn and perform multiple tasks and organize work in a systematic and efficient fashion.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to adapt in an ever-changing healthcare environment.
• Ability to follow complex instructions and procedures with close attention to detail.
• Adheres to government guidelines, including CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA, and corporate policies.
• Understanding of HIPAA privacy rules and ability to use discretion when discussing patient-related information that is confidential in nature, as needed to perform duties.
• Knowledge of computer programs and electronic health record programs.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Exposure to insurance benefits and ability to decipher insurance benefit information.
• Bilingual – English/Spanish.
• Experience in a customer service-related field.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Advanced understanding of insurance knowledge and benefits.
• Advanced understanding of hospital electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Intermediate knowledge of medical terminology.
