Davey Resource Group, Inc. is seeking a field-focused planner to support vegetation management across Southern Indiana. You will participate in planning, data collection, and analysis to support electric utility projects.

The role emphasizes safety, outdoor work, and collaboration with project managers and crews. Valid Indiana credentials or applicator license are preferred, with travel up to 50% and a company vehicle provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in vegetation management planning or related fields.
• ISA Certified or 6 months to certification window.
• Indiana state registration or commercial applicator license desired.
• Ability to work safely in outdoor environments and rugged terrain.
• Willingness to travel across the utility service area.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to vegetation management planning and analysis.
• Use technology and practices for safe, reliable power delivery.
• Research property owners and issue landowner notifications.
• Inspect vegetation in rights of way for compliance and plans.
• Identify tree/brush control actions and protection zones.
• Attend meetings and trainings as required.
• Document data with handheld devices; assess terrain and environment.

POSITION LOCATION: Workplanning throughout Southern Indiana

Payrate: Starting at $20 per hour depending on qualifications and experience

Job Duties

• Successfully contribute to all aspects of vegetation management planning and analysis.
• Utilize innovative technology and practices to help major electric utility providers deliver safe and reliable power and maintain national security.
• Perform property owner research and landowner notifications.
• Inspect and assess vegetation in right of ways for compliance standards and construction work plans.
• Identify tree and brush control work and protection zone recommendations.
• Attend meetings and trainings as requested.
• Collect data and document work using hand-held computers; assess terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions, & support UVM projects.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Planners, and Vegetation Crews to create customized solutions.

Qualifications

• Related field experience.
• ISA Certified, or certification within 6 months.
• Registered Technician with the State of Indiana or hold a commercial applicator license.
• Ability to work safely.
• Love of the outdoors and the ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
• Ability to read and follow GIS data and maps; ability to work independently.
• Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority.
• Demonstrated expertise in problem solving, meeting deadlines, and technical innovation.
• Able to effectively handle conflict.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Availability and desire to travel throughout the utility service area.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle.
• Ability to identify local tree species & growth rates.
• Organizational skills; working knowledge of computers and programs, file creation, manipulation, and sharing.
