Job summary

Davey Resource Group, Inc. is seeking a field-appropriate candidate to support vegetation management planning across Southern Indiana, with on-site duties and travel as needed. Starting pay is $20 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.

The role emphasizes hands-on assessment of vegetation in rights of way, data collection via handheld devices, safety, and coordination with project teams to deliver tailored solutions for utility-scale vegetation control.

Qualifications

• Related field experience.
• ISA Certification, or certification within 6 months.
• Registered Technician with the State of Indiana or hold a commercial applicator license.
• Ability to work safely.
• Love of the outdoors and the ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to vegetation management planning and analysis.
• Use technology to help electric utilities deliver safe, reliable power.
• Perform property owner research and notifications.
• Inspect vegetation in right of ways for compliance with standards and work plans.
• Identify tree and brush control recommendations.
• Attend meetings and trainings as requested.
• Collect data with hand-held devices and document terrain and conditions.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Planners, and Crews to create solutions.

Job Duties

• Successfully contribute to all aspects of vegetation management planning and analysis.
• Utilize innovative technology and practices to help major electric utility providers deliver safe and reliable power and maintain national security.
• Perform property owner research and landowner notifications.
• Inspect and assess vegetation in right of ways for compliance standards and construction work plans.
• Identify tree and brush control work and protection zone recommendations.
• Attend meetings and trainings as requested.
• Collect data and document work using hand-held computers; assess terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions, & support UVM projects.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Planners, and Vegetation Crews to create customized solutions.

Qualifications

• Related field experience.
• ISA Certified, or certification within 6 months.
• Registered Technician with the State of Indiana or hold a commercial applicator license.
• Ability to work safely.
• Love of the outdoors and the ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
• Ability to read and follow GIS data and maps; ability to work independently.
• Leadership experience and a desire for career growth will be given a priority.
• Demonstrated expertise in problem solving, meeting deadlines, and technical innovation.
• Able to effectively handle conflict.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Availability and desire to travel throughout the utility service area.
• Valid Driver’s License with clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle.
• Ability to identify local tree species & growth rates.
• Organizational skills; working knowledge of computers and programs, file creation, manipulation, and sharing.
