Consulting Member Technical Staff (JoinOCI-SDE)

This position involves working on the OCI Compute Control Plane service, responsible for provisioning and managing all bare metal and virtual machine compute instances, forming the foundation of OCI's cloud infrastructure. The role requires ensuring high availability and handling increasing demands on scale and throughput, especially as OCI continues its rapid growth.

We seek a passionate candidate skilled in solving complex scaling challenges within a highly distributed architecture. Operational expertise for leading triage and mitigation of customer-impacting issues is essential. The candidate should be adept at collaborating with stakeholders to clarify requirements and develop concrete solutions.

Major focus areas include:

• Creating and maintaining highly available APIs for launching and managing compute resources.
• Designing and implementing scalable systems across multiple regions in a global cloud environment.
• Building systems for orchestrating large-scale fleet management actions.
• Decomposing large, monolithic codebases.

Responsibilities:

As a software engineering team member, you will define and evolve standard practices, specify, design, and develop software according to project requirements. Your tasks include software development, design, and debugging of applications or operating systems.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years experience in delivering and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Java and scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP), network architectures, and Linux fundamentals.
• Experience leading architecture and design of distributed systems in large-scale environments.

The salary range in the US is $96,800 - $251,600 per year, with potential bonuses and benefits.
