Job summary

LSL CPAs, a leading regional accounting firm headquartered in Orange County, California, seeks a Supervisor to lead engagement teams on audits and reviews, plan objectives, and develop strategy.

You will train Seniors and staff, guide quality work, and deliver creative client solutions while meeting time constraints and budgeted hours.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or economics required.
  • Minimum 5 years in a professional services firm or 7 years in private sector.
  • CPA license or active pursuit required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Experience with CaseWare, QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise accounts payable and payroll processing.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare analyses for receivables, payables, assets and liabilities.
  • Prepare depreciation and debt amortization schedules and trial balances.
  • Identify inconsistencies and prepare adjusting entries.
  • Work with consolidated QuickBooks companies and prepare monthly financial reports.
  • Assist in property tax and sales tax audits and IRS Form 1099 processing.
  • Plan and supervise engagement components with varying complexity.

What you will be doing:

The Supervisor works with the engagement team to plan engagementobjectivesand audit/reviewstrategy. This person willparticipatein the performance ofreviewprocedures, with a particularfocus on complex,judgmentaland specialized issues. The Supervisor will work with Seniors,Experienced Staffand Staff to provide training and guidance in completion of assigned projects as well as developing and delivering creative solutions to client needs. Performance is judged based on the quality of work, application of accounting knowledge, and ability to meet time constraints.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise accounts payable and payroll processing.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and perform analysis for areas such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, capitalassetsand long-term liabilities.
  • Proficiencyin preparation of depreciation schedules, debt amortization schedules, and trial balances.
  • Ability toidentifyand troubleshoot inconsistencies and variances in account analysis.
  • Accounting knowledge necessary to propose adjusting entries to correct errors in accounting, when necessary.
  • Ability to work with consolidated QuickBooks companies.
  • Understanding of cash basis and accrual basis of accounting.
  • Ability to prepare monthly financial reports and present financial data to clients/business owners/board ofdirectors.
  • Ability to complete information for property tax audits and sales tax audits.
  • Ability to process and issue IRS Form 1099.
  • Plan and supervise all components of engagements with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Develop an understanding of the client’s business andbecomesa “functional expert” in the area.
  • Prepare and review work papers and perform various procedures to verify accuracy and validity of client’s financial matters.
  • Anticipate and address client concerns andidentifiesand address problems promptly as they arise.
  • Build effective working relationships with client personnel and meet time budgets and client deadlines.
  • Guide and mentor team members while providing managers with performance insights for engagement evaluations.
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality, application of professional and LSL standards, proficient at researching and writing.
  • Punctually enters time and expenses to support efficient billing processes.
  • Develop prospective contacts and relationships beneficial to the Firm.
  • Participates in the firm recruiting program, developinga rapportwith candidates.
  • Develop skills related to business development -developsreferral sources,isinvolvedin community,andparticipatesinbusiness and professional organizations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree, required with a concentration in Accounting, Finance or Economics, preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years professional services firm experience, or minimum of seven (7) years private sector experience, required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams), required.
Experience using CaseWare, preferred.
Proficiency within QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online, required.
Valid CPA license or actively working toward obtaining the license.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Minimum of three(3)years’ experience in a supervisory position. Monitor and check staff performance levels, ensuring that work is carried out within set deadlines, budget, and quality standards. Responsible for the development, coaching and training of all levels of staff.

Salary Range:

Salary Range: $117,000 - $136,000

Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of what final salary offers may be. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that LSL, LLP provides to compensate and recognize our professionals for their work. All exempt positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and all employees who are regularly scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are offered a comprehensive benefits package.
