Job summary

Primetals Technologies USA invites a Business Developer to lead technical sales support for the Electrics and Automation Rolling & Processing segment in Canonsburg, PA or Alpharetta, GA. The role requires close collaboration with electrical and mechanical sales teams to convert opportunities into projects across the USA, Canada and Mexico.

You will manage proposal preparation, bid documents, and contract negotiations, working with E&A headquarters in Germany and various centers of competence.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Electronics, or Controls Engineering (or related field) or higher degree.
• 5+ years in engineering, technical project management, with exposure to marketing and sales in electrical & automation systems.
• Strong organizational, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Willing to travel domestically (≈25%) and internationally (≤5%).

Responsibilities

• Marketing and sales support for Drives, Motors and Automation systems related to the metals industry. Coordinate with electrical, automation and mechanical sales teams to market E&A solutions.
• Support account managers with customer visits, solution proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Lead the proposal preparation effort to ensure timely, accurate responses to inquiries (electrical concepts, specifications, layouts, strategies).
• Maintain relationships with key customers and develop new ones by building trust with the sales team.
• Collaborate with the service organization to incorporate field opportunities into sales strategies and portfolio enhancements.
• Represent the company and network with client leadership at industry associations and other organizations to enhance business image.

Position Overview:

The position has functional responsibility for technical sales support activities in the Electrics and Automation Rolling & Processing sub-segment. Support the achievement of volume targets set for the Electrics and Automation segment, and company strategy. Main responsibilities include technical sales activities including proposal preparation and bid proposal management, collaborating closely with the electrical and mechanical sales groups for rolling & processing to support regional and global project opportunities and strategies as required. Collaboration in general with the sales team to provide better coverage of Metals customers in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Collaboration with E&A headquarters in Germany as well as various centers of competence.

Responsibilities:

• Marketing and sales support activities for Drives, Motors and Automation systems related to metals industry. Work closely with electrical, automation and mechanical sales team to market E&A solutions and adress opportunities in the market.
• Support account managers in terms of customer visits, E&A solutions and concepts preparation, customer presentations, proposal and bid documents preparation and contract negotiations.
• Lead the proposal preparation efforts internally to ensure timely and accurate response to customer’s inquiries. This includes; electrical concept design, technical specifications preparation, equipment layout and selection, proposal strategies with internal groups and suppliers e.g. operations, procurement, etc.
• Maintain involvement with key customers to understand their needs and also develop new customers by building trust and rapport together with the sales team. Support the E&A segment in portfolio idea generation by providing input from the market and trend information
• Work closely with the service organization to ensure that all sales opportunities arising out of the field activities are understood; addressed and considered in shaping the sales strategies / portfolio enhancements.
• Represent the company and network with client leadership at industry associations, professional or community organizations to enhance business image and success. Collaborate with other business units to provide comprehensive solutions to our customers.

Required Skills/Knowledge, Education and Experience:

• BS of Electrical or Electronics or Controls Engineering or equivalent in related discipline or advanced degree.
• 5+ years of combined experience in Engineering, Technical Project Management , direct exposure to marketing and sales activities related to Electrical & Automation systems
• Organizational, negotiation, communication and presentation skills required.
• USA and International travel.Domesctic travel estimated at 25%, International <5%.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with people at all levels of the organization and facilitate the implementation of corrective action and best-practice sharing
