Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in Columbus, OH is seeking a Software Engineer to design and write production scripts that resolve live incidents across insurance platforms and engage in mainframe development using COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL and VSAM.

You will perform database engineering with Oracle, SQL Developer and PL/SQL, and apply ITSM practices such as Incident, Defect, and Problem Management. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering and 5 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering required
• Minimum 5 years of experience performing the listed duties
• Proficient in mainframe development and related tools (COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, VSAM)

Job Description Summary

Software Engineer needed to design and write production scripts that resolve live application incidents across insurance platforms. Engage in mainframe development and support, including design, coding, debugging, and maintenance of online and batch programs using COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, VSAM, and IBM mainframe tools. Perform database engineering by writing database advanced SQL queries to support data remediation, production fixes, and business reporting needs using Oracle, SQL Developer, PL/SQL, and stored procedures. Leverage ITSM Processes such as Incident Management, Defect Management, Problem Management and Knowledge Management utilizing tools such as ServiceNow and Jira. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering and 5 years of experience performing the duties listed above.

Job Conditions

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)

Working Conditions: Hybrid to normal office environment. Associates may have on-call responsibility after normal working hours and/or on weekends.

The national salary range for Consultant, Software Engineer : $118,000.00-$222,000.00 The expected starting salary range for Consultant, Software Engineer : $118,000.00 - $178,000.00
