Job summary

Ryan is seeking a Property Tax Consultant to join a team that identifies tax savings opportunities for clients and analyzes property tax data.

You will research issues, reconcile databases, and perform detailed calculations, delivering accurate reports while upholding Ryan's values of Pursue Excellence, Wired to Win, Generosity Matters, Build Trust and Integrity Always.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, or related field is preferred.
  • 2.8 GPA or higher in accounting/economics/real estate/finance or related coursework.
  • Internships or early experience in audit/tax roles are a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

  • Attend client meetings and property inspections.
  • Review client property tax records and renditions.
  • Apply software knowledge to client data efficiently.
  • Research tax issues and prepare property reports.

  • Work with tax incentive issues and interact with team members.
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal form.

The Property Tax Consultant (“Consultant”) works with a team to identify tax savings opportunities for clients and to gain an understanding of how the client computes each component of property tax. This includes researching issues, reconciling databases, and completing detailed calculations. The taxing authority verifies the issues, and the Consultant assists the team with this process. The Consultant is responsible for creating positive team member experiences, which lead to excellent client service and drive revenue and profit for the Firm.

The ideal candidate with have analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with strong people skills. The successful candidate will be effective in researching issues, reconciling databases, and completing detailed calculations.   • Reviews client property tax records.

  • Files appeals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate (preferred), Finance, Business Administration/Management, or related study.
  • Must have (6) hours of Accounting or Economics or Real Estate or Finance with a minimum 2.8 GPA or higher.
  • Relevant work experience preferred (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs) or Bachelor’s degree and one to three years audit or tax related experience.
  • Desire to perform in a high-energy team environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage ambiguity.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver’s license required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

Standard indoor working environment.

Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.

Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm in person and via e-mail and telephone.

Position requires regular interaction with clients and interface with external vendors in person and via e-mail and telephone.

Independent travel requirement: Up to 10-20%.

Compensation:

For certain California based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $68,600 - $85,800.
