Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking two replacement consultants in Anaesthesia for the Department serving LGI and SJUH. The appointees should hold FRCA (or equivalent) and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at interview.
The role includes teaching responsibilities and opportunities for research. Interviews will be held in December 2026; applicants may work full- or part-time, including job-share options.

The Department of Anaesthesia benefits from modern facilities across Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s University Hospital, supporting one of the largest and most diverse anaesthetic services in the UK. Consultants have access to a broad range of tertiary and specialist services, including major trauma, neurosciences, vascular surgery, transplantation, cancer services, paediatric surgery, obstetrics, and mechanical thrombectomy. The Department maintains strong links with the University of Leeds and provides excellent opportunities for teaching, research, innovation, and professional development within a collaborative and supportive environment.
The successful applicant should possess FRCA (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.

Applicants should have established skills in general adult anaesthesia, with experience in obstetric and major general anaesthesia. Excellent communication and team working skills and a strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.
