Job description

Consultant, Environmental Engineering / Geologist / Scientist (Mid-Level)

ERM is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Consultant, Environmental Engineering / Geologist / Scientist to join our growing team in Irvine, CA. Working under the direction of project managers and partners, the successful candidate will work on interesting site investigation and remediation projects throughout northern California and other US locations. You may also have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services.

This is a great opportunity to work with ERM's technical experts to implement the latest engineering, investigation, and remediation technologies, while building the required experience to obtain your professional registration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct field work, including sampling, drilling, well installation, remedial pilot tests, construction oversight, and remedial system operation and maintenance.
  • Assist in groundwater and system performance monitoring.
  • Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
  • Prepare environmental compliance plans, permits, and reports for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, storm water, and wastewater.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s in geology, chemical/civil/environmental engineering, environmental science or related degree.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness/interest in field assignments.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude and hands-on trouble-shooting/problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
PREFERRED:
  • Experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
  • EIT/GIT certification.
  • Local candidates.

For the Consultant, Environmental Engineering / Geologist / Scientist position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $73,920 – $101,286 (USD). An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
