Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Truck Operator / Driver (no CDL) to operate water, dump, haul, and tractor trailer/lowboy trucks as directed on project sites. The role emphasizes adherence to Mortenson safety policies, maintaining clean work areas, and performing routine vehicle maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have a current driver’s license with appropriate classifications, strong teamwork, and a professional customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• Current driver's license of proper classification and necessary endorsements as required by law.
• Related construction experience preferred.
• Strong teamwork orientation.
• Positive attitude and professional customer service skills.
• Detail orientation.
• Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals, and maneuver steering wheel to operate equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and load charts.
• Knowledge of equipment and their uses.
• Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, and multiplication).
• Ability to work independently.
• Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate the following trucks based on project requirements: Water Truck, Dump Truck, Haul Truck, Tractor Trailer/Lowboy.
• Follow prescribed safety regulations.
• Ensure housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area.
• Perform routine maintenance including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
• Observe equipment operation to detect machine malfunctions.
• Follow work plans and pre-task cards.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
