Job summary

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College invites applications for an Assistant Coordinator/Instructor in the Construction and Transportation Trades Program.

This role co-coordinates and delivers non-credit workforce and certification training across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, heavy equipment and roadway construction at Reynolds, Brightpoint Community College locations, and partner sites. You will develop and update curriculum, conduct quality assurance reviews, maintain equipment, perform

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of the construction trades industry.
• Experience with adult training methods, curriculum design and development, and evaluation methodology.
• Ability to facilitate customized certification training programs for targeted industries.
• Ability to train other instructors in classroom management and instruction.
• Excellent oral and written communication with diverse training participants, faculty, staff and partners.
• Experience delivering professional presentations to employers and workforce partners.
• Ability to organize, manage and prioritize multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to complete projects and assignments independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with apprenticeship placements and employer partnerships.
• NCCER or VDOT certifications required prior to teaching or proctoring exams.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Co-coordinate and deliver non-credit workforce and certification training in construction trades.
• Teach in laboratories, classrooms, business sites, work-based learning, and online as required.
• Develop and update curriculum; conduct quality assurance reviews of certification programs.
• Maintain classroom and laboratory equipment; perform outreach and partner meetings.
• Coordinate, mentor and evaluate adjunct instructors to ensure instructional quality.
• Become certified to teach Construction Trades and VDOT courses upon hire.
