Job Description
TITLE: Construction Technology Teacher-High School

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Ten (10) months. Salary and work year are to be established by the board.

SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Teacher Salary's Schedule

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

To develop in each pupil an insight and understanding of Construction and its place in our society; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the technical fields; to develop practical problem solving skills related to the materials and processes of woodworking/drafting; to develop in each pupil skill in the safe use of tools and machines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teaches skills and appropriate learning activities in one or more courses in construction to secondary students, utilizing course objectives adopted by the governing body.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures.
  • Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and working.
  • Demonstrate industrial materials, equipment, tools and processes, using standard and teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior required to provide an orderly and productive environment.
  • Instruct in use of eye protection and safety guards, and in the use, care, and safe operation of tools, machines and related equipment.
  • Maintains control over storage and use of school-owned materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss or abuse.
  • Make requests for repairs to tools and equipment as needed.
  • Evaluates each student's performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress reports.
  • Maintains standards of student conduct needed to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom with many potential hazards.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth.
  • Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district policies.
  • Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress and concerns.
  • Cooperate in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification: State Arizona Secondary Teaching Certification; Degree(s) required and area of major study: Arizona; Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Vocational Woodshop Teacher-High School

Experience: Kind and amount of prior job experience required, and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.

License: Valid Driver's License.
