Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and use of construction technology across the project
• Collaborate with VDC, operations, controls, MEP and field teams to identify tech gains
• Evaluate, select and implement new software, platforms and workflows
• Support the integration of VDC/BIM with broader project systems
• Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve workflows and reporting
• Develop and automate workflows to reduce manual processes
• Support BIM/VDC platforms like Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, Navisworks
• Oversee reality capture tech (laser scanning, drones, point clouds)
• Explore digital twins, 4D modelling and automated progress tracking
• Turn construction data into dashboards and analytics
• Coordinate with vendors to evaluate new products for the project
• Research emerging construction tech and practical use cases
• Develop tech strategies for teams and trade partners
• Train and support project personnel in new tech
• Ensure tech integrates with existing project systems

Job description

An established general contractor is seeking a Construction Technology Manager to join the project team delivering a major $800M data center in Texas.

This role will sit at the intersection of VDC, construction technology, data and project delivery, taking responsibility for identifying, implementing and managing technology that can improve how the project is planned, coordinated and delivered.

The ideal candidate will likely have developed their career within VDC/BIM before moving into a broader construction technology role. This person should have a strong understanding of how technology can be practically applied on complex construction projects and a genuine interest in AI, automation and emerging construction technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and use of construction technology across the project
• Work closely with VDC, operations, project controls, MEP and field teams to identify opportunities where technology can improve project delivery
• Evaluate, select and implement new software, platforms and digital workflows
• Support the integration of VDC/BIM information with wider project technology and construction management systems
• Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve project workflows, reporting, coordination and decision-making
• Develop and automate workflows to reduce manual processes and improve the accessibility of project information
• Support the use of BIM/VDC platforms including Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, Navisworks and associated technologies
• Oversee and support reality capture technologies including laser scanning, point clouds, drones and site progress capture
• Explore the use of digital twins, 4D modelling, automated progress tracking and other emerging construction technologies
• Work with project teams to turn construction data into useful information through dashboards, analytics and reporting tools
• Coordinate with technology vendors and software providers to evaluate new products and project applications
• Research emerging construction technology and identify practical use cases for the project
• Develop technology strategies and workflows that can be adopted by project teams and trade partners
• Train and support project personnel in the effective use of new technology and digital processes
• Ensure technology solutions integrate effectively with existing project systems and workflows
• Act as a link between project operations, VDC and technology teams throughout the delivery of the project

Qualifications

• Previous experience within VDC, BIM, construction technology or digital construction
• Strong understanding of VDC/BIM processes and their application on large, complex construction projects
• Experience implementing construction technology rather than simply operating individual software platforms
• Strong knowledge of platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360, Revit, Navisworks or similar
• Experience with additional construction technologies such as reality capture, laser scanning, drones, digital twins, 4D modelling or automated progress tracking beneficial
• Strong understanding of AI and its emerging applications within construction
• Experience with automation, data analytics, dashboards, APIs or software integrations highly desirable
• Ability to evaluate new technology and translate it into practical applications for construction teams
• Strong understanding of construction operations and how project teams use technology in the field
• Data center, mission critical, semiconductor, advanced technology or other technically complex construction experience preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across VDC, operations, project controls, MEP, field and executive teams
• Ability to train and support project teams adopting new technology
• Curious and technically minded, with a strong interest in emerging technology and how it can improve construction delivery
