Entry Level Position with Training Provided
This role involves all types of Network Construction, including Aerial, Underground, and MDU. The employee will assist and support the Construction organization in daily work procedures and actively support efforts to improve the customer experience.
- Move, secure, load/unload cable equipment, tools, or other materials as directed.
- Dig holes, trenches, bury conduit and cables, and perform restoration work.
- Pull lasher, strand, and cable from pole to pole.
- Perform traffic control and flagging as necessary.
- Adhere to industry-specific local, state, and federal regulations.
- Follow procedures and specifications for Aerial, Underground, MDU, and B/A construction, as well as contractor standards.
- Understand and follow all safety requirements and standards.
- Operate and maintain crew vehicles.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Understand Charter’s strand routing, design maps, and map symbology for supporting construction activities.
- Familiarity with construction materials, equipment, and hand tools related to Aerial, Underground, and MDU work.
- Maintain cleanliness of the premises.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Vision requirements: close, peripheral, and ability to differentiate wire sizes and colors.
- Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and in compliance with standards.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds safely.
- Ability to climb and operate extension ladders (up to 28 ft, 75 pounds).
- Ability to climb poles using gaffs, hooks, and belts (weight limit 350 pounds).
- Ability to work in confined spaces, crawling, bending, reaching, twisting.
- Ability to travel to various territories and company facilities, including during bad weather.
- Ability to work outdoors in any season and weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with computer systems and software.
- Ability to complete documentation accurately.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory record.
- Entry level – training provided, no experience necessary.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
- Possession or ability to obtain licenses required by the state for installing or servicing security services.
- Basic mathematics and electronic testing knowledge.
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
- Possession or ability to obtain CDL.
- Proficiency with computer applications.
