Job summary

McGrath RentCorp is seeking a Construction Technician based in the Spokane/Airway Heights area. You will handle general maintenance, cleaning, and remodeling work to prepare buildings for customer delivery, following project plans and safety guidelines.

The role requires hands-on experience with tools, the ability to read plans, and physical stamina to perform manual labor across a standard daytime shift. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in construction or related work.
• Able to work outside in variable weather conditions.
• Ability to use both manual and power tools per plan.
• Ability to use mathematics to calculate length, width, depth etc. for construction specs.
• Ability to follow spoken and written instructions in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to safely perform all tasks per company safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Install structures or fixtures such as windows, doors, frames, flooring, trim or hardware using hand or power tools per plan and code.
• Perform maintenance and construction work in plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, ceiling and electrical areas.
• Construct or remodel modular buildings and related walls, framing, drywall and finish-out tasks.
• Demolish or construct walls, perform basic electrical/plumbing tasks as needed.
• Support 6S and Lean initiatives in the workplace.
• Monday–Friday 7:00am–4:00pm.

A Day in the Life

As a Construction Technician, based at our Spokane/Airway Heightsbranchyou will be responsible for general maintenance, cleaning, general construction, remodeling work and preparation of buildings for delivery to customer sites.

What You’ll Do

• Installation of structures or fixtures such as windows, doors, frames, floorings, trim or hardware using hand or power tools per plan, drawings and to current relevant building code
• Perform maintenance service, repairs and construction in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, ceiling and electrical and other specialties
• Perform construction work related to remodeling or modifying modular buildings
• Demolish, replace or construct walls, including framing, drywall and other finish-out functions
• Light electrical work; changing bulbs, rewiring or adjusting wiring within a frame or wiring for new connections, switches and outlets
• Light plumbing work; removing, remodeling or installing new plumbing pipes and fixtures
• General cleaning, scrubbing, and mopping of units
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements as noted on building plans or reasonably implied
• Participate in and practice 6S and Lean company initiative in the workplace
• Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm
• Performs other duties as assigned

Must Haves

• Ability to use mathematics to calculate length, width, depth, etc. as it relates to construction and accuracy of specs and requirements
• Ability to follow spoken and written instruction and work in fast paced construction environment with minimal guidance from leads or supervisors
• Ability to safely perform all tasks and understand Company's safety policies and procedures
• Deliver a high-quality output consistent with the Company's construction standards
• Able to take, record and follow standard measurements and cut or separate materials to specific measurements or quantities
• Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects
• Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
• Valid Driver's License

Nice to Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish a plus
• Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, VCT flooring or other specialties a plus
