Job summary

McGrath RentCorp in Pasadena, TX is seeking a Construction Team Lead (Finance) to manage a crew that services and repairs modular buildings. You will prioritize and assign work, ensure quality, and maintain safety standards on every shift.

The role requires 4–6 years in construction leadership, blueprints literacy, and the ability to operate manual and power tools in varied weather. A valid license is required and Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years in construction or related trades with leadership experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and floor plans.
  • Able to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's License and safe driving history.
  • Spanish language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a crew, schedule production activities, and assign tasks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic construction work on modular buildings.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and safety of the team.
  • Keep tools and work area organized per 6S standards.
  • Lead safety meetings and promote OSHA-compliant practices.
  • Provide coaching, backfill for other leaders, and participate in additional duties.

A Day in the Life

As the Team Lead you will lead a crew of employees in servicing and repairing modular buildings. Coordinate and prioritize work schedule for production crew, assign modular mechanics and general maintenance employees. Verify quality according to our standards.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate and prioritize work schedule for production crew, assign modular mechanics tasks, learn/train as needed, and verify quality according to our standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and construction on modular buildings to include, but not limited to, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and cleaning.
  • Monitor the work of team members to meet productivity, quality and safety requirements
  • Ensure team maintains tools, supplies and work area consistent with the area's 6S checklist
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and safety training of crew members. Carry out current industry safety practices to include knowledge of OSHA requirements. Conduct daily and weekly safety audits and document results
  • Provide continuous training of crew members and new employees; coaches and counsels team members as needed with regards to responsibilities of their positions
  • Act as a backfill for other leaders when necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work schedule Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm
Must Haves
  • Prior experience of at least 4-6 years in the construction or related industry performing and leading general construction trades required.
  • Able to effectively lead a team and offer guidance and direction
  • Able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, procedures and Company specific work orders, work instructions and floor plans provided
  • Able to work outside in variable weather conditions
  • Ability to use both manual and power tools and follow operating guidelines
  • Ability to safely perform all tasks and understand Company's safety policies and procedures
  • Deliver a high-quality output consistent with the Company's construction standards
  • Able to take, record and follow standard measurements and cut or separate materials to specific measurements or quantities
  • Able to read Company's construction documents (provided in English) and provide guidance to construction team to complete necessary work
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish preferred
  • Prior experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC or other specialties preferred
  • Prior experience overseeing the work of a team of at least 6 employees desired
  • Knowledge of current building codes to include 2016 CBC and 2018 IBC and ADA a plus.
  • Knowledge of LEAN a plus
  • Ability to complete material and labor take offs from blue prints a plus
  • Valid Driver's License
Special Considerations:
  • Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects
    • Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
