Job summary

Dean Dorton is seeking an Associate Director of Construction Tax Services in Lexington, KY to lead tax engagements for construction clients. The role emphasizes client relationship management, strategic tax advisory, team mentoring, and firm growth initiatives.

You will oversee engagement quality, develop staff, and collaborate with partners to drive business development while ensuring compliance and timely delivery of tax services for complex multi-state projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage client service teams and engagements, requiring a variety of tasks, that may include: managing workflow of engagements and ensuring deadlines are met; reviewing prepared tax returns and workpapers with review comments; developing understanding of construction operations (job costing, WIP, bonding, project-based accounting); providing advisory services and connecting with clients to foster relationships; researching complex tax issues; identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities; consulting on entity structuring, mergers, and multi-state construction projects; interfacing with taxing authorities and assisting in audits; signaling client issues and signing tax returns.
Monitor profitability of client engagements and communicate effectively with teams and clients.
Mentor and develop team members; contribute to firm initiatives; lead firm growth activities; oversee staffing and administrative tasks.
