Job summary

Blueform Infrastructure, Inc. seeks a Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field execution of construction, inspection, rehabilitation, and repair projects.

This hands-on role acts as the primary field leader, ensuring safe, efficient work and adherence to Blueform's quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong civil construction experience, excellent leadership, a willingness to perform physical work, and the ability to lead by example on diverse sites.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of construction experience.
  • 3+ years in a supervisory, foreman, or leadership role.
  • Experience operating construction equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple project demands.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day field operations across assigned projects.
  • Direct field crews and coordinate daily work activities.
  • Review plans, specifications, project requirements, and work scopes prior to execution.
  • Coordinate project execution activities with the Operations Manager, Project Manager, and office staff.
  • Plan and organize labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources to support project objectives.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
  • Maintain production goals, project schedules, and quality standards.
  • Perform physical construction activities alongside field personnel as needed.
  • Operate construction equipment and tools as required to support project execution.
  • Monitor job progress and identify project risks, schedule impacts, resource constraints, and unforeseen conditions.
  • Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and project obstacles in a timely manner.
  • Communicate project status, progress, and resource needs to the Operations Manager and Project Manager.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Support project mobilization and demobilization activities.
  • Maintain organized, productive, and professional job sites.
  • Lead, motivate, and supervise field technicians and laborers.
  • Establish daily work plans and expectations.
  • Coach employees on safe work practices and technical skills.
  • Train and mentor newer personnel.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Assist with field hiring and onboarding efforts.
  • Identify and develop future crew leaders within the organization.

Position Summary

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day field execution of Blueform Infrastructure Inc.'s construction, inspection, rehabilitation, and repair projects. This role serves as the primary field leader for assigned projects and crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Blueform's standards of quality.

This is a hands-on leadership position. The Superintendent is expected to actively participate in field operations, operate equipment when needed, mentor field employees, solve jobsite challenges, and work alongside technicians to successfully complete projects.

The ideal candidate possesses strong civil construction experience, excellent leadership skills, a willingness to perform physical work, and the ability to lead by example.

Core Responsibilities
1. Field Operations & Project Execution (Primary Responsibility)
  • ·Lead day-to-day field operations across assigned projects

3. Equipment Operations & Resource Management
  • ·Operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, pumps, generators, and other construction equipment
  • ·Conduct pre-use inspections and basic equipment checks
  • ·Ensure equipment is used safely and effectively
  • ·Assist with planning equipment and labor requirements
  • ·Coordinate material deliveries, equipment logistics, and vendor support to maintain project schedules and production goals
4. Safety & Quality Assurance
  • ·Enforce Blueform safety policies and OSHA requirements
  • ·Conduct toolbox talks and daily safety briefings
  • ·Ensure compliance with site-specific safety requirements
  • ·Promote a culture of safety and accountability
  • ·Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
  • ·Identify and correct quality deficiencies immediately
  • ·Assist with incident investigations and safety documentation as required
5. Client & Project Communication
  • ·Serve as Blueform's primary field representative on assigned projects
  • ·Coordinate and communicate professionally with clients, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and utility owners
  • ·Communicate project progress, challenges, and resource needs
  • ·Support project meetings, inspections, and field reviews
  • ·Escalate significant issues to the Operations Manager as needed
Qualifications

Required:

  • ·7+ years of construction experience
  • ·3+ years in a supervisory, foreman, or leadership role
  • ·Experience operating construction equipment
  • ·Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • ·Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • ·Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • ·Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • ·Ability to work independently and manage multiple project demands

Preferred:

  • ·Water and wastewater infrastructure experience
  • ·Utility construction experience or marine construction experience
  • ·Inspection and rehabilitation experience
Physical Requirements
  • ·Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods
  • ·Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds as required
  • ·Ability to perform physical labor throughout the workday
  • ·Ability to work in confined spaces, below-grade structures, vaults, and restricted access areas
  • ·Ability to work at heights including ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms
  • ·Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and construction tools
  • ·Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods
  • ·Ability to work in noisy, dusty, muddy, wet, and physically demanding environments
  • ·Ability to travel to project locations as required

Work is performed primarily in outdoor field environments with limited office responsibilities. Daily activities take place on active construction sites, utility facilities, marine environments, transportation corridors, and industrial properties.

Field conditions may include:

  • ·Extreme temperatures, humidity, and weather conditions
  • ·Rain, mud, wind, and adverse site environments
  • ·Marine and waterfront conditions
  • ·Proximity to open excavations and heavy equipment
  • ·Confined space entry situations
  • ·Elevated work locations and fall hazards
  • ·Exposure to construction noise, dust, and active work zones
