Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Identify and document deficiencies or incomplete work.
  • Manage punch list items and ensure timely completion.
  • Confirm subcontractor work is complete before progression to the next phase.
  • Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA/jobsite safety requirements.
  • Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections.
  • Address unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
  • Ensure subcontractors follow all safety requirements.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns to management promptly.
  • Maintain daily reports documenting jobsite progress, manpower, weather, deliveries, inspections, delays, and issues.
  • Take and upload project photos regularly.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with subcontractors, vendors, clients, inspectors, and internal team members.
  • Attend and lead jobsite meetings as needed.
  • Keep the Project Manager informed of project status, risks, and field concerns.
  • Assist in resolving field conflicts, RFIs, change impacts, and coordination issues.

Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily field operations on assigned construction projects. This role ensures that work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, quality standards, and company expectations.

The Superintendent serves as the main point of contact in the field and is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, managing jobsite activities, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety requirements, and communicating project progress to the Project Manager and ownership team.

Key Responsibilities
Field Operations
  • Oversee and manage all day-to-day jobsite activities.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel.
  • Ensure work is performed according to project plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify potential delays, conflicts, or issues.
  • Verify that materials, equipment, and manpower are available when needed.
  • Coordinate inspections with local jurisdictions, engineers, architects, and other required parties.
Schedule Management
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontractor sequencing to keep the project moving efficiently.
  • Communicate schedule changes, delays, or conflicts to the Project Manager.
  • Push subcontractors and vendors to meet committed deadlines.
  • Look ahead and identify potential schedule impacts before they become problems.
Quality Control
  • Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals as needed.
  • Ensure all work meets project requirements and company quality standards.
  • Identify and document deficiencies or incomplete work.
  • Manage punch list items and ensure timely completion.
  • Confirm subcontractor work is complete before approving progression to the next phase.
Safety
  • Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA/jobsite safety requirements.

Cost & Change Awareness
  • Identify potential change order items and notify the Project Manager before work proceeds.
  • Monitor subcontractor work to avoid unauthorized extra work.
  • Help prevent rework, wasted materials, and unnecessary delays.
  • Review tickets, deliveries, and field documentation for accuracy.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent or in a field leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, sequencing, and jobsite coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, and construction documents.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage subcontractors and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to make field decisions.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and construction safety practices.
  • Ability to use construction technology, including Procore, email, Microsoft Office, and mobile jobsite applications.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, government, or public works projects.
  • Experience using Procore or similar construction management software.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience with Davis‑Bacon, certified payroll, or public works compliance is a plus.

Work Environment

This position is primarily field‑based and requires regular presence on active construction jobsites. Occasional office work, meetings, and travel between project sites may be required.

Reporting Structure

The Superintendent reports to the Project Manager and/or Director of Operations. This position works closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, clients, and company leadership.
