Job summary

Richard Group is seeking a Construction Superintendent in Tuskegee, AL to oversee daily site construction activities and manage field personnel to meet schedule and budget. You will uphold quality standards, supervise trades, and enforce safety on all on-site work.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years’ experience with a general contracting company.
  • Willingness to travel across the United States.
  • Understanding of construction materials, means, methods, and building systems.
  • Experience on projects $20MM+; federal and healthcare sector work.
  • Experience in managing change orders and project schedules.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Ability to read RFIs and develop project schedules.
  • Clear communication with home office, owner, and subs.
  • OHS/OSHA familiarity a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, direct and supervise day-to-day field operations.
  • Coordinate with project team to maintain schedule, safety, budget and quality.
  • Plan work per contract documents.
  • Manage owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Lead on-site meetings with subcontractors, owners and trades.
  • Schedule and monitor field productivity.
  • Provide mentorship and training to project team.
  • Oversee start-up, project completion, and close-out.
  • Maintain documentation: change orders, RFIs, submittal logs.
  • Manage contractual issues and relationships with customers.
  • Forecast costs for job completion.
  • Ensure timely, safe completion within budgets.
  • Coordinate with Safety Manager on safety goals.

Job Summary

The Superintendent holds the responsibility of overseeing daily site construction activities and managing all necessary field personnel to ensure the successful completion of the project within the designated schedule and budget. This encompasses upholding the highest quality standards, supervising trade and field personnel, and implementing effective construction safety practices throughout all on-site activities. The individual is required to report to a project site five days a week and is expected to live within proximity of the project location or surrounding areas. Richard prides itself on providing project opportunities to its field employees in the hope that they have a long career with the organization. The ideal candidate will have flexibility and interest in being assigned to other project locations throughout the United States after the initial assignment.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, direct and supervise all aspects of the day-to-day field operations.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with all project team members to maintain project schedule, safety, budget and quality control efforts.
  • Plan and organize project work to assure all work is in place in accordance with contract documents.
  • Have working knowledge of owner contract, subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Conduct on-site meetings with subcontractors, owners and tradesmen.
  • Schedule and monitor field productivity.
  • Provide mentorship and training to project team.
  • Supervise project start up, project completion, and entire close-out process.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation throughout the project including change order logs, RFI logs, and submittal logs.
  • Manage and oversee all contractual issues.
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships.
  • Accurate forecasting of costs for job completion.
  • Ensure timely and safe completion of project, while adhering to contract documents and project budgets.
  • Coordinate with Safety Manager to ensure projects are completed in accordance with safety goals.
Mandatory Qualifications
  • 10-15 years’ experience with a general contracting company.
  • Open to traveling throughout the U.S.
  • A thorough understanding of construction materials, means, methods and building systems.
  • Experience managing projects $20MM+.
  • Experience in federal sector projects.
  • Experience in healthcare projects.
  • Experience in managing change orders, writing contracts, and building schedules.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office, Adobe and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and comprehend RFIs, potential change orders, total project schedules, 3-week look-aheads, and other project documents.
  • Ability to manage subs in a hard-bid capacity understanding subcontractor contract scope and holding subcontractors to their contracts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to home office, Owner, Subcontractors and experience running owner meetings.
  • Availability to potentially work on any shift, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, as hospital construction occurs at all hours.
  • Experience in Davis Bacon-Prevailing wage or Union required projects.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and a drug test.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with EM 385 and CQMC.
  • OSHA 30 Certified.
  • Experience managing projects $20MM+.
