Job summary

Richard is seeking an Construction Superintendent to oversee daily site construction activities, supervise field personnel, and enforce safety standards. The role focuses on delivering quality work on schedule and within budget across multiple project locations in the United States.

The candidate will report to the Project Manager, travel as needed, and reside near the project site. A strong background in general contracting, RFIs, and change orders is required.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years’ experience with a general contracting company.
  • Open to traveling throughout the U.S.
  • Thorough understanding of construction materials, means, methods, and building systems.
  • Experience managing projects $20 MM+.
  • Experience in federal sector projects.
  • Experience in healthcare projects.
  • Experience managing change orders, writing contracts, and building schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and comprehend RFIs, potential change orders, total project schedules, 3-week look-aheads, and other project documents.
  • Ability to manage subcontractors in a hard-bid capacity, understanding subcontractor contract scope and holding subcontractors to their contracts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to home office, owner, subcontractors, and experience running owner meetings.
  • Availability to work on any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) as hospital construction occurs at all hours.
  • Experience in Davis-Bacon Prevailing wage or Union required projects.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and a drug test.

  • Plan and organize project work to ensure all work follows contract documents.
  • Have working knowledge of owner contract, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Conduct on-site meetings with subcontractors, owners, and tradesmen.
  • Schedule and monitor field productivity.
  • Provide mentorship and training to project team.
  • Supervise project start-up, completion, and close-out process.
  • Maintain documentation including change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Manage and oversee all contractual issues.
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships.
  • Accurately forecast costs for job completion.
  • Ensure timely and safe completion of project within budgets.
  • Coordinate with Safety Manager to meet safety goals.

Job Summary

The Superintendent holds the responsibility of overseeing daily site construction activities and managing all necessary field personnel to ensure the successful completion of the project within the designated schedule and budget. This encompasses upholding the highest quality standards, supervising trade and field personnel, and implementing effective construction safety practices throughout all on-site activities. The individual in this role is expected to report to a project site five days a week and to be located in proximity to the project. The position may involve assignment to other project locations throughout the United States.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with EM 385 and CQMC.
  • OSHA 30 certified.
  • Experience managing projects $20 MM+.
