Job summary

Baxter & Woodman is seeking a Construction Stewardship II in the Natural Resources department for the Marengo, IL area. This full-time role (40+ hours weekly, weather dependent) supports construction activities across municipalities, subdivisions, and private clients, with oversight of staff and subcontractors.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate or Bachelor’s in Natural Resources or related field, at least 3 years in construction, and can read engineering plans to assist in bids.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction work including natural restoration, storm sewer, sanitary sewer work.

• Travel across Chicagoland, Central Illinois and Northwest Indiana; work with municipalities and private clients.

About the role

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Construction Stewardship II in our Natural Resources department We are seeking qualified applicants for the Marengo IL area for full time work We are looking at 40 plus hours a week depending on weather and workload

What your day to day will look like

Independently performs construction work that could include but not limited to natural restoration storm sewer sanitary sewer water serviceOversee Natural Resource staff assisting with construction activitiesOversee of subcontractors on construction sitesThis work will be done for municipalities subdivisions and private clientsKnowledge of native ecosystems a plusWork well with others

Education & Certification Requirements

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Natural Resources or related field preferred

Must haves what you will bring

• Must have 3 years of construction experience
• Must be able to read a set of engineering plans and assist in putting together cost estimates for bids
• Ability to travel throughout the Chicagoland Central Illinois and Northwest Indiana areas own transportation
• Candidates must be willing and able to travel on short notice and stay overnight as needed
• Ability to take direction from a manager
• Strong verbal skills
• Must be 18 years old with a valid Drivers License
• Ability to move and carry 35 50 lbs on a regular basis
• Have a Class C CDL for State of Illinois or be able to attain it within 3 months of start
• Work within a team first culture that encourages individual development and accomplishment of goals

Preferred Qualifications

• Prescribe Burn Certification of S130 & S190 preferred
• Experience with tree and brush removal within native ecosystems preferred
• Be able operate a skid steer and excavator preferred

Compensation

The pay range for this role is 2800 3800 per hour Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set depth of experience and certifications
