Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Interdisciplinary Engineer in Vancouver, WA to support BPA TEV program through development and maintenance of standard construction specifications libraries. You will draft, review, and publish specification sections for substations, transmission lines, and other facilities, using CSI formats and managing related data systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Architecture (from an ABET accredited school) is required.
• 5 years of engineering/architecture experience is required.
• Experience must include knowledge of engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system.
• 3 years of experience using the standards and practices provided in the Construction Specification Institute (CSI). This experience must include developing standard construction specification libraries (guide-specs), developing standard report/inspection forms for construction quality assurance, preparing project specifications.
• 3 years of experience using a database-type software platform for writing, managing, and collaborating on construction specifications.

Responsibilities

• Meet with SMEs, research industry standards/regulations, and draft new or update existing specification sections to align with modern construction practices.
• Coordinate formal stakeholder reviews and reconcile feedback.
• Publish finalized specification sections using established systems and processes.
• Maintain standard specification libraries in SharePoint and ProjectWise and manage 5-year review cycles.
• Assist project teams and contractors in assembling and drafting project specifications and complete solicitation packages.
• Draft templates and review historical project specifications to implement corrections in standard construction specification sections.
• Develop and update design standards governing the format and usage of construction specifications.
