Job summary

Impellam Group in North Carolina seeks an experienced Construction Specialist to oversee field activities, ensure adherence to drawings, and coordinate with discipline engineers on construction issues.

You will support the Site Construction Manager in contractor management and manage safety, QA/QC, and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in construction, maintenance and restoration activities.
• Electrical background required.
• Level IV candidates may be considered depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance on civil/earthwork, rebar fabrication, concrete placement, mechanical systems and piping, electrical and instrumentation.
• Ensure compliance with safe work practices and environmental requirements.
• Monitor performance against the schedule and milestones; assist in field problem resolution.

Job description

The Construction Specialist provides contractor oversight for field activities. This includes adherence to drawings and specifications, coordination of activities with existing facility, and oversight safety, environmental, and QA/QC compliance. They will support the Site Construction Manager in contractor management as well as be the interface for Discipline Engineers for construction issues.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor performance by the contractor and their subcontractors regarding civil/earthwork, rebar fabrication/concrete placements, mechanical systems and piping (underground and above ground), electrical and instrumentation systems
• Ensure compliance with safe work practices and environmental work practices
• Monitor performance against the schedule
• Validate milestones and/or quantities submitted by the contractor for payment
• Assist in resolution of field problems as appropriate
• Identify and provide field observations of key work activities
• Ensure the quality of construction through continuous monitoring of the construction and installation QC process
• Communicate and collaborate with team members daily to address construction issues
• Attend project and department meetings as required
• Support a diverse Construction and Maintenance team to achieve company objectives
• Support management of customer commitment dates and requests to increase customer satisfaction

Requirements - education & experience

10+ years experience in construction, maintenance and restoration activities. Electrical background required. Level IV candidates may be considered depending on experience.

Required skills

• Leadership skills to support construction, maintenance and restoration activities
• Ability to drive a pick-up truck or UTV onsite
• Knowledge of safe work practices, standards, work methods and procedures

Nice-to-have / preferred skills

Strong civil/earthwork/rebar fabrication/concrete placement experience in power plant construction.

Multiple locations in North Carolina. Work hours: 40-70 hours per week with possible night shift coverage.
